What Do You Do During an Official     Title 5 Inspection?

1. We start by locating the septic tank by using diagrams provided or special camera locating equipment.  We then expose the inlet and the outlet of the septic tank excavating by hand and shovel, we try to preserve the area as best as possible.  We inspect the tank, taking measurements and inspecting their related components.  THE TANK IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE PUMPED DURING THE INSPECTION IN MOST TOWNS.

2. If your septic system has a pump chamber it is exposed and inspected, the pump is tested and the audible alarm, all components are checked to ensure proper functionality.
3. The distribution box is then exposed, the box is checked for structural integrity and performance, the liquid level is noted and determines the operation of the leaching area and its related components.
4. The inspector then inspects the interior of the homes plumbing systems, checking pipes and discharge points.
5. The property is checked for private water wells or other items that may affect the operation of the system.
6. The inspector meets with the homeowner and asks a series of questions required as part of the inspection,  the questions regard occupancy and other household related questions.
7. The system is measured and a site diagram is taken, we then backfill the components.  All care is taken to return the site to the way it was found upon arrival to the site.

Most excavating is completed by manual labor and shovel, sometimes a small excavator is required.
